About
Substrate Collaborative Anthropological Research, LLC (SCAR) was founded by Andrew Frierson in 2023 but was the collective idea of his friends and colleagues. His experience working throughout the west led to his desire to form a small company of like-minded individuals that focuses on completing cultural resource management projects thoroughly and cost effectively for clients while generating useful archaeological data and developing meaningful relationships with Tribes and other members of the communities we work and live within.
Our mission is to assist our clients through the regulatory process while focusing on the professional development of our colleagues, educating and encouraging the next generation of archaeologists to seek to improve our profession, and enhance the archaeological record and bridge the gap between cultural resource management firms, academic departments, and Tribal communities that can often exist. We have the experience, qualifications, and understanding to implement our goals and be an integral part of a collaborative process. We are located in La Grande, Oregon, and have staff experienced in completing cultural resource inventories for projects that encompass a few acres to several thousand acres.
